Keith Urban Wanted to Sing with an 11-Year-Old Girl ‘so Bad,’ and Their Duo Gets 2,700,000 Views
Lauren Spencer-Smith is only 11-years-old, but her fantastic talent got her onstage with country star Keith Urban to sing in front of 20,000 fans.
Keith Urban gave Lauren Spencer-Smith her moment in the spotlight when he called her up on stage to sing “Make You Feel My Love” with him. At the tender age of eleven, Lauren held her own in front of 20,000 screaming fans at the SunFest Music Festival. And she nailed it.
He introduced the young girl with high praise saying,
“She’s got an amazing little voice, and she’s only eleven. And I just wanted to sing with her so bad.”
While Spencer-Smith didn’t win the fan contest to secure a spot in the show, she still got noticed. It was her pure talent and Keith’s admiration and appreciation of it that got her there. Her easy-breezy style on the big stage was noted by many as a gift for a child so young. The combination of the brilliance of her voice and her confidence shows she has a future in the industry.
The song they performed, “Make You Feel My Love”, was written by Bob Dylan. Other artists like Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, and Adele all had recorded versions of the song. So Keith called out to the audience,
“If you guys know this one, join in!”
The audience is blown away as Lauren begins the song on her own with Keith playing guitar. He soon sings along providing harmony and causing the crowd to cheer.
His warmth and pride for the talented little girl were evident. Keith’s daughter, Sunday Rose, with actress Nicole Kidman, is just about the age of Lauren. Keith and Nicole, married for 12 years, also have a younger child, Faith Margaret.
On a recent birthday, Keith’s 51st, Nicole kept the romance going with an affectionate message despite the fact they were apart on the special occasion.
