Kathie Lee Gifford Reveals Her Son Is Engaged

The former “Today” co-host celebrated Mother’s Day with a great announcement she made on social media about her oldest child, who is about to live one of the most important moments of any man.

65-year-old TV host and singer Kathie Lee Gifford took to her Instagram account on May 12 to share the great news of her 29-year-old son Cody getting engaged to his longtime girlfriend, 27-year-old actress Erika Brown.

“My son is engaged and I couldn’t be happier for him and @missamerikabrown!!!” Katie Lee captioned a photo showing the soon-to-be husband and wife sharing a loving kiss to mark the occasion.

“What started as a fairly normal weekend has turned into the BEST EVER. Couldn’t be happier!” she also wrote on her Instagram stories. She couldn’t have dreamed of a better present for Mother’s Day.

Brown, who has been dating Cody since 2013, also used the social network to celebrate this happy moment, posting a snapshot that pictures her with a smile that proves she was on cloud nine now that he finally popped the question.

Cody’s sister, 25-year-old Cassidy, was also delighted with the news, and she used the same picture as her future in-law to express her good wishes and welcome Brown into the family.

“So excited for what God has in store for these two. The most excited to welcome my already sister @missamerikabrown into the craziness,” Cassidy captioned the image.

Brown has been a dancer since she was 7 years old. She attended the University of Southern California, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication and theatre.

She debuted on TV in a 2010 episode of “Dexter,” and other of her few acting credits include a 2017 appearance in “Hawaii Five-0.”

Brown has an excellent relationship with her future mother-in-law, and she was on the TV set on Kathie Lee’s final appearance in “Today” on April 5, two days short of arriving at her eleventh anniversary as the show’s co-host.

During the farewell episode, Cody paid tribute to his mother in a special interview where he stressed out that beyond her star status, she was the best mother he could have dreamed of.

“What was it like growing up with Kathie Lee Gifford as your mom? It was a lot like what you’d expect. You’re surrounded by a kind, generous, giving, wonderfully talented woman who wants the best for you every single day,“ he said.

Cody and Cassidy lost their father Frank in 2015, aged 84. 20 years her senior, Frank spent almost three decades beside wife Kathie Lee until his sudden death.

Their love story, one of the longest in Hollywood, survived Frank’s infidelity 11 years into the marriage, and a miscarriage in 1992, but they had the strength and wisdom to overcome their difficulties and keep going.

Frank’s passing heavily influenced Kathie Lee’s decision to leave “Today” and pursue more creative projects, as she revealed on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

"After my husband passed, you really realize that you're gonna run out of time. He didn't know that morning he was running out of time. And then my mom passed, as well," Kathie Lee shared.

"I realized just recently that I'm in a state where I never dreamed I'd be. I'm a widow, I'm an orphan and I'm an empty nester and that just hit me like a ton of bricks. For the first time in my life, I have the time and the means to go and do anything I want to do," she said.
