Duchess Kate and Prince William Accompany the Queen at This Year's Royal Ascot

Kate Middleton looked radiant as she arrived in a carriage wearing a sheer pale blue dress for the much-anticipated annual event -- the Royal Ascot.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined Queen Elizabeth for the Royal Ascot; a much-awaited five-day horse race event, which began on Tuesday. The royal couple shared a carriage Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall during the short distance ride from Windsor Castle to the racecourse.

"The Queen is owner and breeder of many thoroughbred horses and shares her interest in horses with many members of her family — and The Queen's own horses have won races at Royal Ascot a number of times," shared the Royal Instagram account.

BEAUTIFUL IN BLUE

Middleton donned a beautiful semi-sheer pale blue dress by Elie Sabb, which had an embroidered frock and a pussy bow collar. The duchess paired her outfit with a matching light blue Philip Treacy hat with flower details.

There must have been an unwritten memo for the theme of the event as several royal attendees wore a similar shade of blue, including the Queen, Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice, and Zara Tindall.

The Queen looked elegant in a blue coat and floral hat by Angela Kelly when she joined Netherlands’ King William-Alexander and Queen Maxima in their carriage to the course.

‘THE HORSES REMAIN THE STARS’

During her opening remarks, her Majesty addressed the event as “one of the sporting events that I have been fortunate throughout my life.” Although the event has been going on for over 300 years and has evolved since, she claimed:

“The horses remain the stars, thrilling us with their beauty, brilliance, and courage. The quality and the depth of competition at the Royal Meeting has also continued to prosper.”

LAST YEAR’S ROYAL ASCOT

During last year’s Royal Ascot, Meghan Markle made an appearance in a beautiful white Givenchy dress, which she paired with a black and white Philip Tracy hat.

Her husband, Prince Harry, looked dapper in a tailcoat and top hat, which he also wore to Celia McCorquodale and George Woodhouse’s wedding. While many royals were present in last year’s event, Prince William had to attend the International Business Festival in Liverpool

William believed that the Business Festival was a significant event which he needed to support because he believes business is essential for a balance in society and impacts every person’s life.

“Businesses – both large and small – are responsible for many things that are the bedrock of our society; quality of life, meaningful employment, prosperity, and technological solutions,” the prince said
