Meghan Markle Sparks Rumors on Archie Godparents' Identity after Bringing Friends to Wimbledon
Meghan Markle's Wimbledon appearance with her friends has sparked rumors on whether or not they made the list of Archie's godparents'.
Meghan Markle, who is still on maternity leave, made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon to cheer and support her dear friend, Serena Williams.
Williams played the Slovenia tennis star, Kaja Juvan, in the second round of the competition, and Markle arrived halfway through the match with two of her friends, Genevieve Hillis, and Lindsey Roth.
The Duchess looked lovely in blue jeans, stripe-white blazer, a black top, and a white and black Panama hat. She also had on dark sunglasses and held her hair back in her signature style.
As beautiful and relaxed as the former actress looked, the focus was on the two friends, the Duchess of Sussex came with. Their appearance with her sparked the rumor that the women might be two of the godparents’ attending baby Archie's christening.
The former “Suits” star and Prince Harry, had earlier revealed that the names of the godparents would remain a secret because those taking up the role want it that way.
However, Mirror's Royal Editor, Russell Myers, believes that if the two women are indeed in the running for the role, then the Royals' are doing a poor job of keeping it a secret.
Markle met Hillis and Roth as an undergraduate at Northwestern University but is closer to the second woman. At Roth’s wedding, the Duchess served as her maid of honor, and the Northwestern alum once said that the mum-of-one has not changed since they met in their freshman year at a literature class.
Archie’s christening is on July 6, at the private chapel in Windsor. A statement released by Buckingham Palace revealed that the Archbishop of Canterbury would officiate the ceremony.
The christening is strictly a private affair, and it is not open to members of the public, except a few close friends and family.
The only photographer allowed is Chris Allerton, whose services the Royals employed, and official photos from the ceremony will be available to the public at a later date.
Unfortunately, the Queen will not be in attendance due to prior commitments, but Markle and Prince Harry will have with them, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla, and Prince William and Kate Middleton.
