Grandfather, Prince Charles had on a distinctive piece. The next in line to the British throne wore a Dianthus Devon Wizard to the top left button of his navy suit.

However, the more significant revelation is that he also wore the same flower to his grandchildren - Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis' christening respectively.

Howbeit, Charles didn't have the flower on at his eldest grandson, Prince George's christening.

This is believed to be because the flower may have been out of season as George's christening occurred October, while Charlotte, Louis and now, Archie had theirs in July.

WHY THE DIANTHUS DEVON WIZARD?

Although several speculations have been going around trying to explain the Prince's choice, the flower has been discovered to have a meaning which is related to the occasion.

While speaking to HELLO!, the florist who was in charge of Pippa Middleton and the Countess of Wessex's wedding, Lavender Green Flowers said:

"Dianthus is believed to have derived from the Greek words 'dios' meaning God and 'anthos' meaning flower – translating as God's or Divine Flower."

The London based florist also described the piece as "flower for maternal and undying love."

This would seem like the perfect explanation for Prince Charles' decision to wear the piece, but it doesn't seem like the royal would be willing to confirm the guesses anytime soon.
