Michael Jackson is widely considered one of the most famous people in history, and people naturally transferred his fame to his children. Unfortunately, his daughter, Paris, struggled to cope.

Being the daughter of arguably the biggest singer to have walked the earth for many would mean having the world in your hands. However, every day was a nightmare for Michael Jackson’s eldest child, Paris Jackson.

Paris grew up to be one of the most famous kids ever, which came with a huge burden for her. She was constantly on the verge of self-harm which she saw as a way of escaping from the raging storms in her mind.

STRUGGLING WITH FAME

Born Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson with her middle name being a tribute to the King of Pop’s mother, Paris meant the whole world to the “Beat It” singer from the moment she was born.

Michael had desired to be a father for several years, but his first wife, Lisa Marie Presley, had different views. Fortunately, his close friend Debbie Rowe came to his rescue and agreed to carry his kids.

Michael cherished every moment with his kids and did his best to shield them from the prying eyes of the press. As a result, Michael’s kids grew up knowing they were special, just like their father.

Growin up, Paris lived a life that’s veered between being sheltered and agonizingly exposed. Many have spotted the striking similarity between her and her late father, with her brother Prince calling gender the only difference between Michael and Paris.

Like the “Thriller” crooner, Paris is passionate and exhibits the King of Pop’s strengths and weaknesses. Paris is emotional, and sometimes, these emotions influence her judgment, a characteristic she shares with her dad.

Her life has featured both high and low moments. She often recalls the years spent with her dad as joyful, and as a tribute to him, she has her body covered with tattoos that remind her of the late King of Pop.

Paris has a picture from the “Dangerous” cover on her forearm, the famous “Bad” logo on her hand, and “queen of my heart” boldly written in Michael’s handwriting from a letter he wrote her, but things have not always been rosy.

Paris has never shied away from talking about her childhood traumas and battles with depression, drug abuse, addiction, and several suicide attempts.

SHE WANTS TO BE SAVED

One of Paris’s suicide attempts was seen as a call to be saved rather than an attempt at ending her life. At age 15, Paris slashed her wrists and downed her pills.

She attributed her suicidal attempts to self-hatred and low-self esteem as she believed she was not worthy of living or capable of doing anything right.

Officials argued that her suicide attempts and calling a suicide hotline showed she sought help rather than destruction.

Sources noted that Paris had hoped the emergency services would arrive at her home on time after taking the pills. She was reportedly conscious when emergency services arrived and put up no fight as she was placed on a stretcher. It was her call for salvation.

A HISTORY OF SELF-HARM

The 23-year-old has a long history of cutting herself and inflicting other self-harm measures. Some of Paris’s numerous tattoos are geared towards concealing the scars from her family.

Despite being born into fame, Paris could not cope with the rejection she faced. Growing up, she was homeschooled and agreed to attend a private school from her seventh grade, but that did not work out as she had hoped.

Paris revealed that she didn’t fit in with her peers. Consequently, she embraced the company of older kids who introduced her to things she soon realized were not meant for minors. To cope with her struggles, she tried to grow up fast.

With her father, Michael, facing defamation and having his legacy muddied by scandals after his death, Paris faced the worst moments of her life. At the time, she was constantly the subject of cyberbullying.

At age 14, Paris faced a trauma she has refused to give more details about. She claimed she was sexually abused by a stranger noting that it was a difficult experience which she had to keep to herself.

PARIS EMBRACES HERSELF

Opening up on her mental health struggles, Paris alleged that they began after moving to her grandmother’s house in 2009 following Michael’s death. The change of environment and diet became a source of depression for the young Paris.

Her first addiction was food, and in no time, Paris realized she had gained weight. A comment from a cousin who called her fat further triggered a negative self-awareness, and then, her journey with self-harm began.

Following years of personal struggles, she finally came to terms with her identity and embraced her famous world. Although she is not perfect, Paris hopes to inspire others to love themselves.

As part of embracing her life, Paris now has a better social life and regularly attends Hollywood events, but that’s not all there is to it. The model has embraced her sexuality even though her religious family finds it uncomfortable.

Originally, Paris planned on becoming a nurse like her mom, but after realizing the huge platform fame has brought her, she has no plans to waste it and plans to live her life to the fullest.

RELATIONSHIP WITH SIBLINGS

Michael was the father of three children, Prince, Paris, and Blanket Jackson. His kids have stayed together, drawing strength and courage to face the world around them as a family.

Paris shares a good relationship with her siblings, and even though they have disagreements as all siblings do, they end up sticking together.

Her older brother, Prince, has been supportive of her adventure and has been by her side through difficult moments. Seeing the Jackson kids united would undoubtedly have been a great sight to the late King of Pop.
